ONE MAXWELL · DEAL GARDENS

A two-unit villa compound on the south coast of Barbados.

A three-bedroom main house and a detached one-bedroom cottage, arranged around a shared pool and gazebo. Three minutes to Maxwell Beach, five to Oistins, fifteen to the airport.

Three ways to stay

Book the whole compound, or one side of it.

The whole property sleeps eight. The main house sleeps six. The cottage sleeps two. Calendars are linked — book one and the others adjust around it.

Why we built it

Cozy, well thought out, well situated.

We bought the property as a working hairdressing salon. No pool, no backyard worth speaking of, no real outdoor space at all — just good bones, the right location, and a courtyard waiting to become something.

The brief we wrote ourselves was simple: as serious travellers ourselves, what would we want to walk into? Somewhere that feels lived-in rather than staged. Somewhere with the design considered down to the cabinet hardware, but with the easy familiarity of a Bajan home — pots that actually cook, a fridge that's actually stocked, hosts you can actually reach.

Design language

Two registers in conversation.

Both units share the same DNA — editorial restraint, brass accents, monochrome with botanical green as the only colour, statement lighting as a recurring move. The Main House leans cooler. The Cottage leans warmer.

Main House kitchen — marble waterfall island and black-and-gold dome pendants
Main House · cooler

Dark hardwood, charcoal, brushed brass.

Calacatta-effect waterfall island. Black-and-gold dome pendants. Brass linear sconces and Edison cage vanity lights in the bathroom. Charcoal sectional, white leather and brass dining chairs, blackout drapery in bedrooms.

Cottage living area — oak slat feature wall and open-plan kitchen
Cottage · warmer

Timber-look tile, oak slat, gold rims.

Oak slat feature wall behind the TV. Black quartz countertops and white shaker cabinetry. White dome pendants with brass detail. The bathroom inverts the rule — darker, more industrial, brass tap.

Where you'll be

Maxwell, Christ Church.

On the south coast, in the strategic sweet spot — close to Oistins and St Lawrence Gap without being on top of either. Bajan locals and repeat visitors recognise the address immediately.

There were eight of us, and there was more than enough room for everyone to relax without ever feeling on top of each other. The small touches made a big difference — tea and coffee, washing detergent, bottled water already waiting. Solin · One Maxwell Estate · April 2026
Amazing location and very clean, beautiful home. Close to Oistins for Fish Friday, 5–10 minutes walk from amazing beaches. The hosts were communicative but not overbearing. Kate · One Maxwell Main · May 2026
The most perfect place for our honeymoon. The home was cosy and welcoming, all very clean. Walkable in about 20 minutes to either Oistins or The Gap, and the beach is just a couple of minutes around the corner. Daniella · One Maxwell Cottage · May 2026
